those capable of backing up or reinstalling there operating system would find that the software warranty be useless and having an additional partition would be a matter of preference, there default setup looks to be more helpful to those that lack the capabilities mentioned ! they wont help those that intentionally change the configuration because there not trained beyond or wish to be liable.

i got a kick out of that dell tech. they should have mandatory american english courses for their indian techs.

the 2 gig partition that dell created is very weird, that was disturbing. however, the 70 gig partition acer created doesn't bother me in the least. in fact, it's a good security measure incase the system partition gets compromised and a format is necessary. in that case, the data on the "data" drive isn't lost.

lastly, does anyone else notice the one thing that ties the ntfs companies together and the eisa compaies together?

I'm glad I don't buy OEM computers. The only computer I bought from a big OEM was my laptop. I wiped it clean when I first got it because I didn't want all the crapware installed. I did the fdisk to repartition just out of habit.

I do miss the days when you could buy a built computer without an operating system.
